* Colorific started making a 2d copy of the ColorSync profile it normally creates in the ColorSync Profiles folder. This new file was called Colorific.ICC ; it had exactly the same contents as the normal Colorific profile (named after your monitor selection when you would run Colorific). The profile named after your monitor continued to be the profile designated by Colorific to the ColorSync machinery as the current system profile.
* A minor bug in the code for generating the TRC tags in the ColorSync profile was fixed. (Values were off by one index position in these 256-element arrays.)
B. Version 2.3 (Not Publicly Released)
* The method for generating the profiles's colorant tag values was changed, but then this method was dropped in 2.4 .
C. Version 2.4
* The monitor selection dialog box has been changed. The single pop-up menu list for all of the monitors known to Colorific is now replaced by 2 pop-up lists. The first pop-up list is used for picking a specific manufacturer. The second pop-up list then shows only the models for the manufacturer selected in the first pop-up list.
* Colorific now generates 3 ColorSync profiles at the end of each calibration. They differ by name, by preferred rendering intent, by method of generating colorant tags in the profiles, and by profile description tag within the profile. (Profile #1 is set by Colorific to be the current ColorSync system profile.)
Profile #1
File Name: "<monitor name>"
Preferred Rendering Intent: Absolute Colorimetric
Colorant Tags Generation Method: Based on actual white point
Profile Description Tag Content: "Colorific: <monitor name>"
Profile #2
File Name: "True_Internet_Color.icc"
Preferred Rendering Intent: Relative Colorimetric
Colorant Tags Generation Method: Based on D50 white point
Profile Description Tag Content: "True_Internet_Color: <monitor name>"
Profile #3
File Name: "Pantone.icc"
Preferred Rendering Intent: Relative Colorimetric
Colorant Tags Generation Method: Based on D50 white point (same as #2)
Profile Description Tag Content: "Pantone: <monitor name>"
The Rendering Intent flag can be used by color management applications to set the color matching style to be used in a given situation. Generally, this flag (in a monitor profile) will only matter when the profile is embedded in a file.
The Colorant tags generation method will affect colors produced in color matching operations in various ways. For instance, if your monitor has a high color temperature, when you use Profile #1's method, "white" will often print with a slight blueish tinting; when you use the other method, "white" always prints as "white" (using the normal "relative" color matching settings in print drivers).
The Profile Description tag is used by some applications to describe the profile instead of the file name when you have to select profiles from a list. (The ColorSync™ System Profile control panel has you pick a profile by filename and then displays the Profile Description tag of the selected profile.)
* Colorific now reminds you if you haven't recalibrated your monitor for more than 6 months. This is implemented as a new Colorific Recalibration Check extension that checks a date stamp left by the Colorific application in the new Colorific Preferences file at startup.
Every 6 months the Colorific Recalibration Check extension will remind you that it is time to rerun the Colorific calibration program to keep your system's color profile up to date. You may disable and reenable this feature by using a special program (like Extensions Manager or Conflict Catcher) or by using the Colorific installation program.
B. Adobe Photoshop Monitor Setup
Although Colorific does automatically update your ColorSync System Profile control panel, because of the way Photoshop 3 works, an extra step is required to use the Colorific-generated profile as part of Photoshop's Monitor Setup. Photoshop 3 users need to go to the ColorSync System Profile Control Panel and reselect the Colorific-generated profile. Once this is done, the profile information is available in Monitor Setup as the bulleted monitor selection.
Using Colorific with Photoshop 4 is a little different from using it with Photoshop 3. Photoshop 4 doesn't require the extra step of reselecting Colorific's profile as the current ColorSync system profile. Also, the profile information is available in Monitor Setup as the "default" option.
C. Paper Types for Inkjet Printers
Each ColorSync printer profile makes certain assumptions regarding the settings you select in your printer driver. Also, each profile for an inkjet printer assumes that YOU USE SPECIAL PAPER. Unless you use this type of paper, the colors from your inkjet will be dull. See below for paper types needed for inkjet printers.
You may want to try Colorific-approved inkjet paper from IJ Technologies. As a gift for reading this readme file, call 1-800-356-6962, ext. C, and ask for a FREE 5-sheet sampler pack of Colorific-approved inkjet paper.

For transparencies, please be aware that color matching may not be perfect. This is because the bulbs which light overhead projectors are missing much of the red spectrum to avoid creating heat, which will burn or melt the transparency material. So the color you see when you print on transparency material may not be the color you are able to project onto a projection screen.
Colorific requires a Macintosh computer running System 7.x with at least1.4 MB of disk space for installation. During operation, you must be running in at least 640x480 resolution. You must also be running with at least 256 colors enabled. Go to your Monitors control panel and confirm that you are running with at least this resolution and color depth. Also, you must print to a color printer which offers ColorSync support in its printer driver. For PostScript printers, this means you must use a PostScript Level 2 printer, since PostScript Level 1 printers are not compatible with ColorSync. Colorific provides you with a PostScript Level 2 printer driver called the LaserWriter 8.3 driver to make sure that you have everything needed to begin getting superior color results.
